DJ Codeman the DJ, Producer, and Engineer was born in Chicago on April 22, 1985 and grew up on the fundamentals of music from a young age. At 8 years old he began his training in classical piano, which eventually blossomed to a love for jazz. Along the way he learned other instruments neccessary to compose music for any size orchestra or group, such as bass, drums, or saxophone. This love of music drove him to begin producing "popular" music, or hip hop, house, or general club music. At the University of Illinois he began DJing at clubs and house parties while pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering. He also began his production career with his first group, the Platinum Playboys,
where he recorded an album and a mixtape. Since then he has also formed another group, The Beat Drop Squad, named appropriately after his tag "Dj Codeman make the beat drop." Currently Dj Codeman is working on his PhD at the University of Florida in Gainesville, but of course always finds some time to produce beats or lay down tracks. You can catch him spinning almost any day of the week, whether on MAGIC 101.3 doing the mid-day mix or at Ruebar on Fridays.
